FATHER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2024 -
WASHINGTON DC and its SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES IN MARYLAND and NORTHERN VIRGINIA
FATHERS INCORPORATED (FATHERS) will recognize ‘deserving fathers’ residing Washington DC and its surrounding communities in Maryland and Northern Virginia who changed the lives of their families and communities for the better; fathers whose challenges and triumphs are manifested in their life experience and personal journey, beyond their profession and career achievements – fathers who took risks and achieved what is needed and necessary to make the lives others around him better; and fathers whose leadership has had a positive impact on a wide range of people’s lives.
Ideally, the recipients of the award will be fathers whose actions and achievements reflect the benevolent values and founding principles of FATHERS: BROTHERHOOD, MANHOOD, FATHERHOOD, and GENTLEMANSHIP, as defined by FATHERS.

1. When and where will the awards be made?The awards will be made to the ‘deserving fathers’ during a breakfast ceremony on June 15, 2024, at a location to be determined.The ceremony will have seating for approximately 80 guests to include the family and friends of the deserving father: sponsors/donors, and special guests of FATHERS.Note: This is not a public event and only those invited by FATHERS can attend. 2. What is meant by the term ‘deserving father.’The term ‘deserving father,’ means a responsible benevolent father or like-minded role model – one who exercises paternal care over persons or promoting the development in others the proper capabilities, values, honor and respect, and confidence needed to ensure their ability to function within their family, community, and larger society.3. What are the award criteria?In selecting nominees for the awards, consideration is given to the nominees’ achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contributions to the concept of family and community.Among other things to be considered, nominees must be:• Fathers and US Citizens residing in the District and its surrounding communities in Maryland and Northern Virginia.
